Rushing to Town Hall 7

Who should rush to level 7 town hall?

The short answer is "In an active clan, anyone who can, at least twice per week, set aside an hour or more to play the game."

If you have the real-life flexibility to raid for a block of time until you can set a builder to work, you will save a tremendous amount of real-life time farming resources by rushing to TH7.

Why?  There are two big advantages to farming after reaching TH7.

(Note that rushing to TH7 will certainly cripple you in war for a while.  But that is okay.  We will understand.)

The first big advantage is the fourth army camp.

Having 200 population spots makes raiding for resources so much easier that you save real-life time.   Arrive at TH7 with your barbarians, archers, and army camps as upgraded as possible.  (Nothing else matters!)   Then build and upgrade that new, fourth army camp and be amazed as how much faster you get gold and elixir.   Upgrade your barbarians and archers to level 4 and be doubly amazed.

Of course, if your defenses are low level your village will also get raided.  That is why it is vital to have those hour-or-more blocks of time.  Do not worry about protecting your loot!  Each time a builder is available, set aside some time to raid for the resources needed for the next upgrade, then stop and relax.

The second big advantage is how that extra army camp space allows the giants-and-healers attack style to finally work well.

This army style is available but dysfunctional at TH6.  At TH7 you can have an army of 16 giants, 4 healers, and 64 archers, which is finally enough of each troop type to do their job.   When raiding it is fairly easy to find TH6 bases that have a lot of loot and their only air defense is in an easy-to-reach non-central location so the giants do not suffer too much damage before it is safe to deploy the healers.

You need not have any barracks able to make giants or healers when you arrive at TH7. But you will eventually have all four barracks able to make these, and then you will be amazed yet again.

It is true that once you upgrade your giants, healers, and archers then that army costs 64,800 elixir to train—twice as much as 100 barbarians and 100 archers.  But it can attack many more bases.  So your routine eventually becomes cuing a giants-and-healers army whenever you leave the game for half an hour or more, using it for your first raid (saving real-life time because you need not press Next nearly so many times to find a yummy target), and then going back to a "barch" army of barbarians and archers that trains quickly but requires using that Next button more to find a village worth attacking.
